It was horror in Jigawa state yesterday when over 200 Terrorists invaded Gwaram local government area of the state, killing about eight 8 policemen, destroying a police station, sharia court, and a Unity bank.
The Assistant Inspector General of police in charged of zone A, comprises Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states, Alhaji Muhammed Tambari Yabo Muhammad disclosed this to newsmen while briefing newsmen about the incident.
He explain that four mobile policemen, three conventional policemen and one civilian guards were killed during the operation which lasted for several hours.
He said the terrorist started the operation from 1:30am to 4:00am.
He divulged that, the terrorists used EOS explosives device to blast the police station and the Shariah Court in Gwaram.
The AIG explained that the terrorist who numbered well over 200 came on motorcycles and other vehicles, saying that they are believed to have come from the neighboring state of Bauchi.
Yabo further stated that the terrorists abandoned some of their motorcycles due to fuel problem, adding that at the process, they stole one vehicle from the local government secretariat.
It would be recalled that a similar incident took place in October 2012, where gunmen attacked the same Unity Bank and the same police station in Gwaram town.
