Former Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi has confirmed the sudden death of his wife, Kate, in the United States.
Keshi and wifeThe Big Boss, as Keshi is fondly referred to, revealed that his wife had been sick for a while but he never expect that the sickness will lead to her death.
“She has been ill for a while now but the death is coming as a big shock to us,” a close friend of the former Togo and Mali coach told newsmen
“Keshi is very downcast at the moment because we know how dearly he loves his wife,” the source added.
A report on completesportsnigeria.com quoted Keshi as saying that the burial rites for the late wife would soon be made public.
The ‘Big Boss,’ who captained Nigeria for over 10 years, in the process winning the Africa Cup of Nations gold, silver and bronze, coached the squad to a third African title in South Africa early 2013.
He was in charge of the Super Eagles between November 2011 and June 2015, during which he also led the team to the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.
